Kona Kai San Diego Resort is kicking off summer with the return of its annual Lū’au & Island Makeke on June 5. Rooted in the spirit of Laulima, meaning “many hands working together,” the event blends Polynesian storytelling, interactive workshops, live performances and a waterfront island marketplace.
Guests are welcomed with traditional Kukui Nut Lei greetings before enjoying entertainment throughout the evening, including fire dancers and emcees. Food and beverage offerings will be available, as will VIP experiences, which include access to a dedicated Luau Lounge and Rum Room.

Southern California World Cup watch parties and fan experiences
As international soccer fans descend on Greater Los Angeles this summer, West Hollywood is positioning itself as one of the region’s most walkable and experience-driven home bases for tournament travelers.
Why West Hollywood works well for World Cup travelers
Unlike many parts of Los Angeles, West Hollywood offers visitors a more centralized experience where hotels, restaurants, nightlife and wellness experiences are all within close proximity.
That means travelers can realistically grab coffee, head to a workout, watch a match, enjoy dinner, and experience nightlife without constantly navigating city traffic.

Hotels bringing luxury and nightlife together
Luxury properties along the Sunset Strip, including The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills and The West Hollywood EDITION, continue to attract visitors seeking rooftop pools, social events and high-end dining experiences.
Meanwhile, boutique-style stays like Kimpton La Peer Hotel offer a more subdued, intimate stay, keeping travelers within walking distance of restaurants, nightlife and match-day festivities.
Fan zones and nightlife programming
Preliminary programming includes:
- Plummer Park Fan Zone | June 12–13
- West Hollywood Park Fan Zone | June 25–28
- Disco Foot performances | June 26–28
Visitors can also watch matches at local hotspots including GYM Bar WeHo, Hi Tops and Mic’s Bar.
Food, fashion and culture collide in Los Angeles this summer
Family Style Food Festival returns to Los Angeles on June 27
Family Style Food Festival returns to Los Angeles State Historic Park on June 27, bringing together food, fashion and streetwear culture for a one-day summer celebration.
Known for its exclusive culinary collaborations and limited-edition merchandise drops, the festival will feature restaurants including Kato, Damian, Kuya Lord, Jon & Vinny’s, and Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles, alongside brands such as Adidas, Undefeated, Pleasures and Anti Social Social Club.
The all-ages event will also include a kids’ area with games and activities, making it one of Los Angeles’ more family-friendly summer cultural events.
The festival runs from noon to 8 p.m.
Coastal hidden gem near Los Angeles
For those who enjoy unique travel spots in Southern California, the Roundhouse Aquarium came across our radar. There isn’t a better time than the summer season to pursue favorite oceanic wonders with plenty of shopping and dining nearby.

Roundhouse Aquarium offers a free oceanfront stop near LAX
Located at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier, Roundhouse Aquarium gives travelers access to more than 100 marine animals native to Southern California through educational exhibits and touch tanks overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Because it’s located less than 20 minutes from LAX, the aquarium works particularly well as a low-stress addition to arrival or departure days.
The surrounding Manhattan Beach area also adds to the appeal with:
- Walkable beachfront paths
- Boutique shopping
- Oceanfront dining
- A more relaxed atmosphere than busier tourist-heavy beach destinations.
