Under Canvas Santa Fe to open in New Mexico in 2027
Scheduled to open in April 2027, Under Canvas Santa Fe will occupy 640 acres of rolling high desert near the Galisteo Basin Preserve. It will be the company’s first New Mexico location and 18th property overall.
The camp will introduce several firsts for the hospitality brand, including temperature-controlled cabins, on-site saunas and a dedicated event tent. Reservations for its inaugural season are now available.
What to expect at Under Canvas Santa Fe
Situated at an elevation of 6,321 feet, the camp will include:
- 45 safari-inspired canvas tents spread across three distinct areas
- An upper terrace near the lobby
- A juniper-covered middle slope and a lower meadow

Guests will be able to choose from Deluxe, Stargazer and Suite tents. Stargazer tents feature viewing windows above the bed, while select accommodations can be paired with a Kids Tent containing two twin beds. Two-tent suites with adjoining decks will provide additional room and privacy for families and small groups.
Each canvas tent will include a private deck, king-size bed with luxe linens, en suite bathroom, wood-burning stove and in-tent cooling.
Hard-sided cabins will join the mix later, marking another first for Under Canvas. Designed for travelers who want additional climate control without losing their connection to the surrounding landscape, the cabins will offer a contemporary alternative to the brand’s signature tents.
Throughout the property, rich woods, wrought iron, clay- and earth-toned textiles and pieces created by local artisans will reflect the landscape and creative heritage of Northern New Mexico.

High-desert recreation and Santa Fe culture

Under Canvas Santa Fe will sit adjacent to the nearly 10,000-acre Galisteo Basin Preserve, placing guests near more than 44 miles of public trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The camp will also have its own hiking and biking trails.
The property is approximately 30 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza, allowing travelers to explore the city’s galleries, studios, historic sites, markets and restaurants before returning to the high desert.
“Santa Fe is one of the great American destinations, a place where art, culture and cuisine are deeply connected to the landscape,” says Noah Brodsky, CEO of Under Canvas. “We’re excited to bring our signature outdoor experience to New Mexico and create a new way for guests to experience this remarkable region.”
Guest Experience Coordinators will be available to assist with outdoor adventures and cultural excursions, including hiking, rafting and visits to Santa Fe attractions.

Dining and activities at the camp
The camp will offer seasonal café-style dining featuring flavors inspired by the region. Complimentary programming will include live music, yoga, family activities and nightly s’mores around the fire.
Collaborations with New Mexico artists will offer another connection to the destination, while the brand’s first on-site saunas will give guests a place to recharge after exploring the trails or spending a day in Santa Fe.
A new setting for weddings and retreats
A 1,885-square-foot event tent and adjoining 1,605-square-foot open-air deck will accommodate weddings, retreats and other group gatherings.
The event space will seat as many as 80 guests or host receptions for approximately 130. Full camp buyouts will also be available for groups of up to 130 guests.
On-site catering, communal firepits and the surrounding Galisteo Basin landscape will allow groups to combine traditional event amenities with an outdoor setting.

A focus on the landscape and night sky
Design and outdoor lighting at Under Canvas Santa Fe will follow DarkSky International principles and standards intended to reduce the property’s effect on the surrounding environment and preserve views of the night sky.
Other sustainability-minded features will include minimal land disturbance, recycled and durable furnishings, pull-chain showers, low-flow toilets and rechargeable battery packs.
What to know before booking
Under Canvas Santa Fe is scheduled to operate seasonally from April through October, beginning in 2027. Rates start at $279 per night, plus taxes and fees.
