Regional travelers looking for a unique late-summer getaway don’t have to choose between rich cultural heritage and high-adrenaline outdoor adventure. From the beloved 37th Annual Totah Fine Arts Festival (Sept. 4–6) to 4×4 Week and W.E. Rock Grand Nationals (Sept. 7–13), Farmington, New Mexico, invites Southwest travelers to celebrate the holiday weekend with one-of-a-kind signature events.

Celebrate Native art and culture at Totah Festival

Held at the Farmington Civic Center, the Totah Festival Fine Arts Festival features a juried Native American art show, authentic Navajo rug auction, Indian Market, powwow and Native cuisine.

“Labor Day is one of the most exciting times to experience Farmington because it showcases the diversity of our region,” says Tonya Stinson, executive director of Visit Farmington. “Visitors can immerse themselves in centuries-old Native American art and traditions one day, then hit the trails or cheer on elite off-road competitors the next.”

Highlights of the weekend include:

• Juried Competition Awards & Poster Contest Unveiling: Friday, Sept. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m.
• Indian Market: Open Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Native American Juried Art Show: Open Saturday, Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Totah Festival Powwow & Gourd Dance: Held Saturday, Sept. 5, from 12 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Navajo Rug Auction: Held Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m.
• Totah Festival 5K Run/Walk: Held Sunday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m. at Berg Park.

Following Totah Festival, Farmington shifts into high gear for 4×4 Week, a lively celebration that brings together off-road enthusiasts, trail riders and spectators from across the nation, culminating in the high-stakes World Extreme Rock Crawling (W.E. Rock) Grand Nationals.

Featured off-road events include:

• 4 Corners Show & Swap: Kicking off at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, at the Farmington Museum & Visitor Center, visitors can buy, sell, or trade parts and check out custom cars, trucks and motorcycles on display.
• Fall Crawl Meet & Greet: Held Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hoodoo Glass, the event offers a chance to network with fellow off-roaders over BBQ, leading up to the starlit Fall Crawl Night Run from 7 to 10 p.m. at Chokecherry Canyon.
• Fall Crawl: Running Sept. 9-11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants can take part in guided runs in Chokecherry Canyon and Largo Canyon.
• 4 Corners Vendor Show: Browse and shop from Jeep, truck, SxS, camping, hiking and outdoor vendors at the Farmington Civic Center on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 10-11.
• Off-road Downtown Takeover: Downtown Farmington goes off-road on Friday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 10 p.m. for a high-energy night. Enjoy an epic 4×4 vehicle show, stereo competition, and Flex Ramp Competition, along with food, live music and giveaways.
• Ultimate Performance UTV SxS ShootOut: On Saturday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m., head to Chokecherry Canyon to watch as drivers test their side-by-sides with rock-crawling challenges.
• W.E. Rock Grand Nationals: Get ready for the best of the best with the W.E. Rock Grand Nationals, held Sept. 12-13 at Chokecherry Canyon. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, watch as the best drivers from the West Coast and East Coast battle it out for the National Title.
