New Tribute Portfolio hotel planned for Tempe’s Novus Innovation Corridor
A new upscale hotel is joining the growing Novus Innovation Corridor in Tempe, bringing 168 rooms, a rooftop pool and bar and a prime location near Arizona State University’s (ASU) sports and entertainment venues.
The seven-story, 116,855-square-foot hotel will rise at Novus Place and Packard Drive in the heart of the development’s main street entertainment district. The property will become part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio, a collection of independent hotels known for distinctive design and social spaces.

What to expect from the new Novus hotel
Plans call for 168 guest rooms along with an inviting rooftop pool and bar and approximately 2,700 square feet of meeting space.
The hotel’s exterior will incorporate contrasting materials, finishes and textures, with subtle design references to ASU’s campus identity.
Its location could be one of its biggest draws. Novus Innovation Corridor spans 355 acres integrated with ASU’s Tempe campus and is being developed as a mixed-use destination combining restaurants, retail, residential spaces, offices, entertainment and collegiate sports.
“The hotel is the next step in realizing our vision of making Novus a destination for residents, visitors and sports fans on game days,”says Dr. Morgan Olsen, executive vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer of ASU.
A new stay for ASU sports and Tempe getaways
The hotel will put travelers within the Novus district and near several of ASU’s major athletic venues, making it particularly notable for visitors coming to Tempe for games, university events and campus visits.
ASU is investing more than $150 million in sports venues at Novus, including a $55 million indoor football practice facility and another $100 million toward modernization of Desert Financial Arena.
Those projects follow the $300 million renovation of Mountain America Stadium and the development of the $140 million, 5,000-seat Mullett Arena.
The addition of an upscale hotel adds another piece to Novus’ evolution from a university-adjacent development into a destination where visitors can stay, dine, attend events and explore the surrounding Tempe area.
Okland Construction will oversee planning, design and construction management for the hotel. The company’s Arizona portfolio includes The Global Ambassador, Mortgage Matchup Center and several ASU projects.
