Ballet Arizona and FABRIC host high-tea themed fashion show

Ballet Arizona and FABRIC are coming together on April 26 at a private residence in Paradise Valley in an innovative, one-of-a-kind fashion show celebrating ballet and high fashion. The local nonprofits have teamed up to create a collaborative high-tea themed fundraiser benefiting the two organizations that will feature an afternoon of elegance, innovation and sustainability during Eco Fashion Week (April 19-26).

Ultimate fashion repurposing
Ten fashion designers from FABRIC’s community will reimagine costumes donated from the Ballet Arizona archive by upcycling them into couture pieces. To assist in the creation of the designs, FABRIC is donating three yards of fabric from its stock of material that was used to produce 800,000 reusable medical gowns during the pandemic.
FABRIC’s designers will additionally have the chance to create custom prints to complement the assigned costume using FABRIC’s eco-friendly textile printer. The results will exemplify the beauty of the arts (dance and fashion), as well as the ingenuity of the designers.
“This collaboration is a beautiful way to celebrate the arts and sustainability,” says Angela Johnson, co-founder of FABRIC. “By blending the timeless elegance of ballet with the ingenuity of upcycled fashion, we’re showcasing the incredible talent and innovation in our community.”
Promoting sustainability in the arts

This event presented by Ballet Arizona’s Contemporary Council, Ballet Arizona’s junior board and FABRIC is co-chaired by Johnson and Lindsay Danto-BenAviv, a member of Ballet Arizona’s Contemporary Council. Contemporary Council cultivates a new generation of patrons through creative fundraising, events and volunteering.
“Ballet Arizona’s Contemporary Council is thrilled to partner with FABRIC, a visionary organization disrupting fashion industry norms to build a more accessible, sustainable future,” says Serena Remy, council member and SVP of Marketing and Communications at GPEC. “Reimagining treasured ballet costumes as contemporary couture honors the artistry of dance, amplifies the brilliance of local designers and advances the principles of circularity, all within this one-of-a-kind experience.”
