Dallas International Film Festival returns April 2026, marking its 20th anniversary

The Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF) returns April 23–30, 2026, celebrating its 20th anniversary with a weeklong showcase of international films, documentaries, shorts, panels and special events. “See the World from Here,” the 2026 festival’s tagline, underscores DIFF’s mission to connect audiences with stories from around the world.

A global celebration of storytelling

Hosted annually in Dallas, DIFF has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated cultural events, spotlighting bold storytelling and diverse voices from around the globe.

The 2026 festival, marks two decades of cinematic impact, reflecting the organization’s continued commitment to elevating meaningful stories while supporting both emerging and established filmmakers.

Throughout the eight-day festival, attendees can expect a curated lineup of narrative features, documentaries and short films. Guests can also attend filmmaker Q&A sessions, industry panels and red-carpet screenings.

Awards presentations honoring excellence in filmmaking and creative achievement further emphasize the festival’s role as a platform for artistic recognition and discovery.

Community engagement and a hub for creatives

Beyond the screen, the Dallas International Film Festival fosters education and community engagement through conversations with directors, writers and producers, offering film enthusiasts and creatives opportunities to connect with the craft and culture of filmmaking.

Dallas International Film Festival connection to the Academy Awards

The Dallas International Film Festival is one of 181 film festivals worldwide and 59 in the U.S. to be designated as an Oscar® Qualifying Film Festival. According to DIFF, Films that win qualified awards may be qualified to enter the Academy Awards®, provided that the films meet all the requirements set forth in the official rules for that season.

Passes and festival access

Festival passes, including VIP options, are currently available, providing access to multiple screenings and events throughout the week. Additional programming details, venues and film announcements will be released closer to the festival.
