Palm Desert brings Blue Zone selfceare to the desert
At the 450-acre JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, wellness is no longer just a treatment. It is a philosophy plated beautifully and steeped in ritual.
Spa Desert Springs has unveiled a new Blue Zones-inspired culinary and spa program designed to reflect the habits of the world’s longest-living communities, inviting guests to begin a lifestyle centered on vitality, balance and joy.
A taste of the Blue Zones
Executive Chef Michael Klicos has reimagined the spa’s bistro menu with a plant-forward focus inspired by regions known for longevity. The dishes celebrate vibrant vegetables, legumes, whole grains and heart-healthy fats, with optional additions like tuna and smoked salmon for those who prefer added protein.

Thoughtfully sourced and minimally processed ingredients take center stage, including sprouted grains, couscous, brown rice and seeded lavash. Everything is elevated with house-made dressings, olive oil, nuts and seeds.
Menu highlights include stuffed grape leaves inspired by Ikaria, an Okinawa Bowl with sweet potato japchae noodles and miso vinaigrette, and tuna “tacos” served in a crisp shiso leaf shell. It is spa dining that feels indulgent while remaining grounded in wellness.
Spa Zones: treatments inspired by longevity

Complementing the new menu, the 38,000-square-foot spa introduces Spa Zones, a collection of Blue Zones-inspired treatments designed to promote hydration, recovery and balance.
Offerings include a Grapeseed Scrub, Microgreens Facial and Olive Oil Massage. Each experience is rooted in natural ingredients and restorative rituals, often paired with herbal teas, baths or quiet moments of rest that extend the benefits beyond the treatment room. The goal is not just relaxation but restoration.
