The Wigwam Arizona Resort is an iconic Arizona resort. When it opened in 1929, no one probably would have suspected that The Wigwam would continue to attract generations of local families and avid travelers who want an engaging and modern interpretation of a charming Southwestern getaway. Although the original lodge is still thriving and has been enveloped into the much-expanded resort, it continues to exude the warmth, charm and relevance of the great Southwest with an offering of special events and wine dinners that serve as an expansion of its hospitality footprint.

Distinctive bungalow style rooms (with tons of space!)
One of the nicest things about staying at The Wigwam Arizona Resort is the space. Most of the rooms are situated as throwback-style bungalows, complete with every current amenity. The Wigwam also has a large property, so there is a lot of walkable space. When figuring in the size of the resort property and the adjacent Wigwam Golf Club, there is plenty of room to stretch out, relax and explore.
During a recent stay, we enjoyed a superior suite, which is literally the size of a small home! Our room featured a large window at the entry and a sliding glass door leading to a walkway to the conveniently located parking lot. The huge bathroom and adjacent closet are certainly large enough for those staying for longer periods of time.
Connected to the large bedroom via a connected door, is a huge living room with plenty of room to entertain, L-shaped couch, lounging chairs, large TV, gas fireplace a wet bar. Rooms like this in a bungalow/ranch style setting are not common, but offer a distinctive style getaway, perfect for couples, golf enthusiasts or families.
Pick your perfect day: Golf + pool + spa
Pools, fitness center, tennis and golf at the award-winning Wigwam Golf Club all provide the opportunity for fun and sports activities. The Tower Pool and Tower Pool Slides are the perfect spot for families to have some fun while experiencing a day of multiple pool slides. Or, for a more relaxed vibe, the Oasis Pool is designated for adults only and offers a more quiet and romantic experience.
LeMonds Aveda Salon-Spa is located on property, offering pampering experiences to delight and refresh the mind, body and soul. Enjoy a wide variety of facials, massages and services for hair and nails.

Litchfield’s is the signature on-site restaurant, offering fine dining to guests of the resort, or the public. Red Allen’s Bar & Grill and Wigwam Bar round out the dining offerings at The Wigwam. There are always special events at The Wigwam, including a wine pairing dinner series.
Frank Family Wine Pairing Dinner
Attending a wine pairing dinner at Litchfield’s Restaurant at The Wigwam isn’t just dinner, it’s an experience. Our wine dinner featured the wines of Frank Family Vineyards in Napa Valley. The founders are Rich and Leslie Frank, and Rich founded the winery in 1992. Rich is the former president of Disney Studios and Leslie is an Emmy Award-winning journalist. Both have a passion for wine and that passion shines through in the stellar wines their winery produces.
During a recent wine pairing dinner, we were introduced to several of the Frank Family Vineyards wines, expertly paired with the culinary stylings of Litchfield Restaurant’s executive chef, Chris McLean and his creative staff.
We kicked off the night with a champagne and hors d’oeuvres reception with a group of about 50 wine aficionados. Once seated for the main event, we continued to be more and more impressed with the food, the wine and the education surrounding the Frank Family Vineyard.
In thematically apropos fashion, act one was a savory parmesan budino paired with 2023 Frank Family Vineyards Chardonnay, Carneros. Act two was a blackened barramundi (Asian sea bass), paired with 2022 Frank Family Vineyards Pinot Noir, Carneros. This entree was gorgeously plated and an exceptional example of the outstanding talent of the culinary team at Litchfield’s.

One aspect of the dinner we particularly loved was how each dish was created by a different chef, and then meticulously prepared and plated, assembly line style, in the open concept kitchen, which was in full view and in close proximity to all guests. As each entree and wine was presented to guests, the chef that created the dish would speak about its unique ingredients.
Act three was an engaging dish of bison raviolis, paired with 2022 Frank Family Vineyards Zinfandel, Napa Valley. Act four was a Cedar River prime beef tenderloin paired with 2022 Frank Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley. The grand finale — act five — a scrumptious warm spice cake with eggnog ice cream. We certainly look forward to attending future wine pairing dinners, as this one was exceptional. Whether you are a diehard foodie or a fan of discovering new wines, the wine pairing dinner series at The Wigwam Arizona Resort is an indulgence not to be missed!
