Spirits of Mexico Festival 2025 to showcase the magic of Nayarit, Mexico

The Spirits of Mexico Festival, an annual celebration of Mexico’s rich heritage, returns to Downtown Phoenix on March 22-23. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Heritage Square, located at 113 N. 6th St.

Spirits of Mexico Festival brings music, dance, cooking and more to Phoenix
This year’s event spotlights the captivating state of Nayarit, Mexico, known for its stunning Pacific coastline, lush jungles and vibrant Indigenous culture.
The weekend features live music, traditional dance, art displays, cooking classes, mixology workshops and culinary delights. Guests can also explore an expansive tasting area, offering samples and insights into Mexico’s signature distilled spirits, including tequila, mezcal, sotol and bacanora.
“We want to bring the heart of Mexico to Phoenix and create a space where people can celebrate and connect with its diverse culture and traditions,” says Yazmin Quezada, event organizer. “This year, we’re thrilled to feature Nayarit Mexico, a state that embodies so much natural beauty, rich history and unique flavors.”

A dynamic event line-up
Spirits of Mexico Festival’s mission is to celebrate, sustain and unite communities through cultural events and immersive cultural experiences. The festival promotes bi-national community engagement, fosters economic development and offers meaningful cultural experiences for all attendees.
Event Highlights Include:
- Cooking and Mixology Classes: Interactive sessions for food and cocktail enthusiasts
- Arts and Crafts Workshops: Workshops in partnership with the Maxica Colectivo, which represents the Wixarika Taimarita Ceremonial Center in Arizona
- “Catas” Guided Tasting Sessions: Led by experts from the tequila industry
- Tasting Area: Small-batch brands tasting, including some making their debut in the U.S. market
- Live Entertainment: Performances featuring the music and dance of Nayarit and Mexico
- Food and Artisan Vendors: Authentic cuisine and handcrafted goods from local and international artisans
Special Guests:
The Martinez family, coming from Tequila, Jalisco, renowned leaders in the tequila industry, will host guided tasting sessions:
- Silvia Martinez, cirector of Las Mujeres de Tequila Association and Master Tequilera
- Kanya Martinez, vocal of Casa Pochteca and owner of DECADENTES, specializing in guided tastings in Tequila, Jalisco
- Jorge Martinez, founder of Casa Pochteca and the International College for Master Tequileros Association
- Louie Flores, multiple award-winning international author, artist/illustrator (live chalk drawing performance)
