Seasons and reasons to visit Arches National Park
Spring
April and May are ideal for comfortable temperatures ranging from 60 to 80 degrees, blooming desert flora and fewer crowds. This season also offers better availability for lodging and camping.
Summer
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, visitors should plan early morning activities to beat the heat, as temperatures can reach triple digits. Sunscreen, hats and plenty of water are essential. This season is perfect for meeting fellow travelers from around the world.
Autumn
As temperatures cool to a comfortable range of 60-80 degrees, visitor numbers decrease, offering a more peaceful experience. Fall foliage along riverbanks enhances the park’s beauty, and October 31 marks the end of the pre-purchased timed-entry permit requirement.
Winter
The park’s red rocks and sandstone formations covered in snow create a magical winter wonderland. This season offers quiet trails and a warm Moab welcome, with cozy accommodations and fewer tourists. The average high temperature Dec – Feb is 47 degrees.
Exclusive access with Moab Adventure Center
During the peak season (April 1 to October 31), visitors must secure pre-purchased timed-entry permits, often weeks or months before, to enter Arches National Park. However, Moab Adventure Center offers exclusive access through guided tours that do not require advance permits.
