The iconic mid-century modern Hotel Valley Ho is pleased to announce an $18 million room renovation, the largest since its original opening in 1956. Drawing inspiration from the hotel’s heritage, the new design seamlessly blends classic elements with contemporary style. Later this year, Hotel Valley Ho plans to unveil additional redesigned rooms and all new Executive Suites.

Iconic Valley destination receives glow-up

Designed by Mendil + Meyer Design Studio, the masterfully reimagined guest rooms create a captivating blend of vintage charm and modern design. The design team prioritized sustainability and mindfulness, seamlessly incorporating elements from previous renovations to reduce waste and environmental impact.

Rather than attempting to replicate bygone eras, they drew inspiration from them and added a contemporary twist. An example — the low, horizontal wood and upholstery headboards that took their cues from a black-and-white photograph showcasing the Hotel Valley Ho guest rooms from the 60s.

“This stylish transformation marks an exciting milestone for Hotel Valley Ho,” says vice president and general manager Ronen Aviram. “Our approach was to respect the history of the hotel while infusing it with a fresh, modern perspective that embraces the needs of travelers today and the Old Town Scottsdale lifestyle, all while remaining as iconic as when our doors first opened. We look forward to ushering in this new chapter with the local community, our treasured guests and future visitors.”

A color palette of soft pinks and blues inspired by Arizona’s one-of-a-kind sunsets creates a serene and stylish atmosphere. Crisp cream walls with sleek neutral accents provide the perfect contrast while pops of greenery and dark tones are woven throughout. These colors evoke a sense of mid-century charm while reflecting the warm hues of golden hour in the desert.

Detail in every decor element

Every detail has been carefully curated to create an atmosphere that’s both playful and polished. Custom artwork by Scottsdale-based artist Djamila Fierek adorns the walls, while ceramic wall planters add a touch of whimsy. The new window sheers include a custom-designed fabric by Mendil + Meyer in collaboration with Lebatex, featuring geometric hummingbird patterns that symbolize joy and good fortune.

Rooms and suites also feature walnut wood open closets, which add another layer of contemporary sophistication to the space, along with custom terrazzo countertops, illuminated pillow-shaped vanity mirrors, spacious patios with loungers and extra seating and floating tubs in select rooms.

The design team also selected eco-conscious elements such as the “Sprung Chair” crafted from 81% recycled material by UK-based company Deadgood. In the bathrooms, natural light floods in through glass block accents, illuminating the sleek concrete terrazzo vanities. With the high-tech Lutron system, guests can personalize lighting and temperature to create the perfect ambiance.

Hotel Valley Ho’s room transformation also introduces ground-level, pool-facing Cabana King Rooms, offering guests the addition of an extended patio complete with sun loungers, tables and chairs to provide the feel of a private cabana. Revitalized Terrace Suites boast separate living and sleeping areas, each with its own private patio for soaking up the Arizona sunshine. These suites feature king-size beds, queen sleeper sofas, and custom furnishings throughout.
