Dreamcatcher Workshop with Pearl Seaton
On Wednesdays, discover the art of traditional Navajo dreamcatcher weaving with local weaver Pearl Seaton. Uncover purpose and significance of dreamcatchers during this one-hour intimate workshop. Throughout the class, learn the purpose and meaning of dreamcatchers and hear firsthand stories from Seaton’s childhood and memories of her grandparents teaching her to make the Indigenous symbol. Limited to 15 participants, signups are available upon check-in with the hotel’s front desk team. Participants are recommended to be at least 10 years old.
Navajo Storytelling and Songs with Eli Secody
On Thursdays, Eli Secody, who has spent a lifetime immersed in the rich heritage of the Navajo Nation, shares captivating tales steeped in the traditions of his native culture. Having grown up listening to stories and folklore passed down by tribe elders through the ages, Secody’s storytelling is deeply rooted in the oral tradition of Indigenous people. Through storytelling intertwined with Navajo songs and drumming, gain insight into the harmony between the Navajo people, wildlife, and the land. Secody offers a profound and authentic glimpse into Navajo culture, leaving visitors enlightened and inspired to continue their journey with newfound appreciation and understanding.
