From Tubac to Scottsdale: A thriving family enterprise
Elvira’s, established in 1927 in Nogales, Mexico, has long been a family-owned institution revered for its innovative approach to traditional Mexican dishes. Under the leadership of Chef Ruben Monroy, the grandson of the original founder, Elvira’s has evolved into a destination restaurant, with its Tubac location being a hallmark of excellence.
“Our expansion to DC Ranch represents an exciting new chapter for Elvira’s,” says Tom Kaufman, owner of Kaufman Hospitality. “We are thrilled to bring the flavors, artistry and hospitality of Elvira’s to the Scottsdale community, and we look forward to creating lasting memories for our guests here.”
Elvira’s DC Ranch will feature signature dishes from the Tubac menu, including the iconic Chile en Nogada, a stuffed poblano pepper crowned with walnut sauce and pomegranate seeds, and the luscious Mole Negro Oaxaqueño. Alongside these staples, Executive Chef and COO of Kaufman Hospitality, Chris George, promises exclusive dishes and cocktails crafted to celebrate Mexican cuisine’s vibrant flavors and textures.
“Our menu at DC Ranch is a homage to tradition while embracing innovation,” George says. “We want every plate to tell a story, blending authentic recipes with modern culinary techniques to deliver something truly special.”
Elevated menu and ambiance
Highlights from the cocktail menu include the floral Hibiscus Margarita and the exotic Guanabanatini, offering refreshing twists on classic favorites. Elvira’s DC Ranch promises an ambiance as extraordinary as its cuisine. The decor will incorporate handcrafted glass chandeliers, traditional artwork and limestone sculptures, blending the vibrancy of Mexican heritage with the elegance of the Scottsdale lifestyle.
“Our goal is to create a space where guests feel transported yet at home — a celebration of culture and community,” Kaufman says.
Elvira’s DC Ranch will elevate the dining experience with interactive elements, including tableside preparations of select dishes and visually stunning plating styles that enhance the artistic presentation of its cuisine.
