History of Lost Pines Resort: A perfect blend of nature and luxury
The property is about 20 miles from Austin and opened in 2006. Located on the banks of the Colorado River, adjacent to the 1,100-acre McKinney Roughs Nature Park, the resort is designed to blend luxury with the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country and to offer a getaway experience that embraces outdoor activities.
The resort takes its name from the “Lost Pines” region, a unique ecological area where a small pocket of loblolly pines grows isolated from the nearest pine forest — more than 100 miles away. These pines are remnants of an ancient forest and are part of what makes the region surrounding the resort ecologically unique.
When it opened, the resort quickly became known for its family-friendly amenities, including its expansive pool area and lazy river, its on-site golf course (Wolfdancer Golf Club), horseback riding and proximity to nature trails in the adjacent park. Its proximity to Austin allows it to cater to both travelers and locals looking for a nearby escape.
