Grass Clippings Rolling Hills hosts championship & festivities in December
Coming this December 5 and 6, the Troon Access Grass League (GL) Championship Presented by Golf Now brings two full days (and nights) and 36 holes of high stakes par 3 golf, live country music concerts, food trucks, party tents, a beer garden — and more — to Tempe. Early bird tickets are on sale until November 15th for only $10 (after, tickets start at $20). The festive championship will feature a music-filled atmosphere, debuting elite two-person golf teams, including Phoenix United and Scottsdale Strikers, competing for a large prize purse under the lights at Grass Clippings Rolling Hills golf course.
Plus, fans who purchase a two-day ticket before November 15th are automatically entered in a lottery for the chance to hit a shot on the 18th hole and win $1,000,000 with a hole-in-one.*

Two days of food trucks, music and more
Featuring teams backed by big names such as Wyndham Clark (No.6 on the PGA Tour), Dave Roberts (manager of the LA Dodgers), and Good Good Golf, this scramble-style Par-3-only tournament will showcase serious golf action, but with a decidedly unstuffy atmosphere, marking the course’s second major event.
“Most professional golf tournaments have signs that say ‘Quiet,’” says Grass Clippings CEO Jake Hoselton. “But we just printed 1,500 ‘Louder’ signs to hand out.”
Throughout the two-day tournament, fans can watch while socializing inside the on-site hospitality tents featuring DJs spinning during the golf rounds. Plus, guests can take advantage of fare from top Valley food trucks, and craft cocktails including the tournament’s signature drink — Mr. Happy — featuring Arizona’s own, ROXX ultra-smooth vodka. An after party is to follow featuring a live honkytonk with country music headliners, High Horse and The Kurse Brothers, scheduled for Thursday and Friday night, respectively.
Par 3 shining opportunitees
As for why the Grass League and the GL Championship feature only par-3 holes, Hoselton says, “Golf’s greatest moments happen from 150 yards and in, from Tiger Woods’ hole-in-one at the TPC Scottsdale to more recently Jordan Speith losing The Masters on a par 3. There’s always a chance at a hole-in-one at this tournament, and birdies are always falling. Instead of the players competing just to stay above water, the scoring is more, ‘How low can you go?’”
Kicking off on Thursday, Dec. 5, gates open at 3 p.m. and round one begins with a shotgun-style start at 5 p.m. and will run until 9 p.m. when the concert starts. Then on Friday, Dec. 6, everyone’s invited to come play hooky from work as the gates open at noon, with a timed start with play kicking off at 1 p.m. and the leaders teeing off last, wrapping up at 9 p.m. with the hand out of the large prize purse, followed by another concert ending at 11:30 p.m. For those not able to attend in person, the Grass League Championship will be available through live broadcast and streaming.
